Monday Monday. sigh. I just got back from the gym, and our little neighbor friend, Abby, is over here playing so i have a minute.
Last night, we had our financial class, and it was good again. It gives us such hope. Dave Ramsey (the financial guy-anyone heard of him?) was talking about getting your kids to save, and then he got to the part about a car when they turn 16. his advice was so excellent. obviously he didnt say "oh just give them a car" but instead he said he had a 401 Dave. for every dollar his kid put in , he matched it. he said one child ended up with a 20,000 car and one a nice bike!! ROFL. imagine the financial freedom to be able to BLESS your kids that way, and isnt this why we are in this class? i want us to leave a legacy. another thing he said that touched my heart was, snif snif, he taught his kids soooo well about financial freedom, how to pay cash, be debt free, and if they did/ do a good job, he and his wife will bless them with a house, so they have no bills, and can build up wealth by investing what would have been the mortgage. now, he is not saying give your delinquint, irresponsible children a free house, but if they can prove that they are on the right track, AND you are in a positon to do this (which, if you follow his plans about money, you should be able to do by then!!) what a nice thing to do! he says he is not only doing it for his children, but for his grandchildren, etc.. on down the line. kind of like to break the curse. oh i am inspired. what joy that would be. you want to do everything for your children,. but this is a serious thing to teach them. i want them to learn from us the RIGHT way to handle money.
Why are some peoples posts writing so TINY ?? Angie, i cannot read yours, and am sad about that. is it my computer freaking out again or is it your style of blog?
OH we went out Sat night. SO fun! we played pool and had appetizers. it was fun to do something grown up for a change. Christi watched the babies. so sweet of her. we like to trade off. it works well, and its FREE. lol plus they love seeing their cousin.
Off to make mac and cheese for these pretty girls.

When I saw your title, I thought you were going to buy the house next door. I was about to offer to rent it from you! Oh well...
I need to go see this guy.

He has a radio show that I used to listen to. Check your AM stations and see if he's on. He makes a lot of sense.

Sounds really inspiring. But how can you buy your kids a house when you are still paying for yours?? Would love to be in that position but just don't see it happening. I don't know why you can read my blog?? I just change the color...not the size....hmmm.....
5:19 PM
the idea is you are supposed to get yours payed off quickly. prob too late for erin, but maybe for claire.
so sad still cannot read your blog.

Gina, to change the size, go to View at the top of your screen on the File bar. Then go down to text size and pick a larger size. Mine was doing that for a while, too. That should work. If not, let me know, and I'll try to figure something else out.

Holy crap! Thats insane...being able to afford to buy your kids a house!
What about your own retirement nest egg? How can you ever afford to buy your kids a house but not be putting away for your own retirement?
I dont always agree about paying for everything in cash. We use our credit card for everything...because we get points on it that we can put towards groceries. I guess since we pay our bills everything month its acceptable in that case, but paying for everything in cash when there are other incentives doesnt make sense to me.

this is if you have your finances in order totally, including retirement. then with the extra money that you would invest for your kids or family,. use it for a house. i am sure not many people get that chance, but what a goal.

thanks christi. i changed the text size. :)

i think you all are missing the point. the point is that you will be so financially free, anything is possible! including multiple blessings of others. guess you had to be there. lol.
