The love of your children is immeasurable. My heart is swelling today - could it be the icehouses? perhaps.... lol.

Before you accuse me of having a MOM BLOG-GOD FORBID-

Today was Julia's dance recital. She was on a special peforming team this year ( last year was just a tap/jazz class). She did so well performing around town and we went and videoed every single minute. Today at the big Koger Center in downtown was their recital. Let me preface it by this- Last night, we went to the concert, where the competing groups and company groups performed.... I have seen plenty of Broadway and let me just tell you that this particular company that Julia dances at is almost broadway quality. Her studio, Southern Strutt has been named one of the top dance studios in the US. How did little columbia mangage that and how did i just happen to enroll her there, not knowing, just knowing it was sweet and the closest to my house?? LOL

so back to the concert. OMGGGGGGGGG. I was BLOWN away. it was so fantastic.... other studios around town seem almost embarrassing. not that i want my kid to be worried about this stuff at age SIX, i am not that neurotic, but hey, if your kid is into dance, this is the place to be. They win National Awards and in 2006 were the best jazz studio in the US. WOW. anyways, ... watching these big girls in the concert got me all torn up inside. Their moms have been taking them to dance 3-5 times a week, so proud of them , their dads make jokes about writing checks, family vacations are to Nationals in LA, etc.. and it just melted me. what parents will do for their kids and what i am excitedly looking forward to in the near future....it was SENIOR night and the girls who were seniors in highschool made special tributes to their parents- you know they are not really involved with school activities because of how much time dance takes... so this studio is their family and where they spend their time. on the big encore number, the seniors came out wearing caps with their costumes.. snif snif... I am a wreck. my daughter is six for crying out loud. it just makes me so happy knowing that she can and will amount to something so great and perfect- whether dance, academics, whatever it is she is going to choose to do, i cannot wait to see it- like, i wish i could fast forward time just to get a sneak peek at what this cool kid is going to do with herself. she is amazing. she was amazing at dancing today!!! who knows what next year holds- we are going to keep going with the performing team that she is on now, razzle dazzle, but try out for the pre-company too and see where we go. every parent thinks their child has the "talent" but julia has the determination- and more so that that the self-esteem....... i say 'go girl"

I am a proud parent today. my heart is swollen with pride and my heart is bursting with thankfullness for what a neat kid God trusted us with.

She sounds like a perfect
child with a love and passion for
living just like you Gina.

And she looks like you.
I think it is a gift to have
a passion and delve into it.
