i am in disguise

2006-05-01

So here is the question of the day. I am not sure i am going to like most of your answers, but ohhh well.
Am i too old for camouflage pants/shorts? I keep asking, and people go , "well........not really.........." I have been wanting a pair of something green and inconspicuous since last summer. Never thought i would get away with it either. I am the biggest anti-hunting, vegetarian, anti-war kind of girl yet here i am wanting cammies. lol.
Tonight, i am in Ross, and i see some camo-capris. really cute! i see on the next aisle 2 colors of camo-shorts (longish kind of bermuda type). one very green (like real military gear) and one kind of light green. i grab all three articles and drag them and my wayy too tired to be shopping kiddos and head towards the dressing room. my kids are like "oh mom, those are so COOL, ahh we love them , etc...( keep in mind my kids are 5 and 7). I try on the capris, and they are a NO, too much freaking green material. on to the dark shorts. i love them!! then the light shorts. love them too, in a thuggish kind of way. I find two youngish girls in the next stalls and ask their opinions. they both wavered when i asked if i was too old ( i probably am, but look like i am still in my 20's- get carded for everything 18 and up) i dont think they were "camo" type girls, as they were trying on those long broomstick skirts . both immediately agreed on the lightish ones. the others look kind of "hot topic gone military" so i agreed with them , got the light ones and paid .

now i have a new "thug day" outfit. do you ever have days like that? i live in stepford, and some days i want to show off my humongous tattoo on my leg and wear camouflage shorts. i dont want to look all cutesy. i want to wear my boston baseball cap and be done with it. the tiffany necklace stays in the jewelry armoire that day, and the grubby (sequins) tank top goes on *(HAHA). i can only be so thug-like.

tomorrow i am meeting with a broker at Century 21 to go over a job. WISH ME luck. i will not be wearing the thug shorts, but the tiffany bracelet and necklace, heels and a cute top. gotta look stepford , at least till 10 am.

well.. I'll say for sure you've got great legs.

I personally do not like cammo stuff, so my vote on the shorts themselves is biased. now I DO LOVE the solid olive drab green colors... and have been known to wear a harley wife-beater or two, and whoops? is that my VERY skateboarding "spitfire" tattoo popping out?

so I relate. I would have just personally chosen diff shorts.

good luck tomorrow!!!

I'm not much of a camo-kinda person, either. TJ has one that's kinda cute on him, but only to be worn to the in-law's house, if you know what I mean...I, like Carrie, love the dark olive greens, but I prefer to stick to solids myself. Of course, I prefer to have clothes that fit, which is not something I get much of anymore, so I'm really a bad person to ask. I want to see you as the whole outfit, then I'll pass judgement...

I wouldn't go camo, though I did when I was 12. Though I think your approach, right down to the tank top and cap, is ageless.

Don't forget to wear your realtor camo and good luck with the interview.

Hahaha the responses you've gotten are funny! Camo is in right now and I don't know how old you are but you are never to old to wear fashionable clothing. I say go for it!

you are definitely not too old!!
what nonsense!
when i got married after living with M for ages and having a child with him, people told me i was too old to wear a white wedding dress, but i went ahead with it and felt great.
You feel you can pull it off, so obviously you are not old. And hey, Madonna goes out with her hair in plaids, and she is almost 50. xxxxx
