don't we look like the Incredibles?? hahahah. below is a manatee. they were HUGE!!! we also took underwater pics, so i will post those when i get them.

mom and me in the water. it was the BEST thing i have ever done. really fabulous. we got to "pet " the manatees while they ate. they are so gentle. so sad, as they all have scars on their backs from propeller blades. at first it was scary but once we got ourselves under control and quit panicking (first time snorkeling- that was neat too, but scary at first, because you sound like darth vader underwater...all you hear is yourself breathing). On the NYT bestseller list is a book titled, 1000 things to do before you die, and swimming with manatees was one of them. The only place in the WORLD to swim with manatees in the wild is in Crystal River Florida. the water is as it is named- crystal clear. 72 degrees. Some of the tour companies were cheesy and did gimmicks and games, but our girl, who moved here from Michigan (after she came down one time and swam with the manatees she knew it was for her to do forever- sold her stuff in michigan , bought a boat, and made her dream come true) was gentle, passionate and really cared for the animals. didnt allow any funny business or splashing, just really calm environment. it was so emotional and cool!! seriously brought tears to our eyes to see something so beautiful. anyways... lol.
