so the topic i chose for the moms retreat we are having is very self-serving. it is about how to be better at our jobs as mothers, wives and friends. as in try to be a BETTER MOTHER, BETTER WIFE AND BETTER FRIEND. i am kind of being hit with this concept because i feel like i do "okay" at these things- i am not trying to beat myself up, it is the truth... i need to excel. that is what we are called to do in my humble opinion. kind of like if you cant do it right, dont do it at all? well, too late for that. sooooo i am striving for excellence in more areas of my life. not to be perfect- that is impossible and i am not that niave. but oh to only be better.
i went to a Womens night out last night and the speaker talked about flylady.net. i hate flylady. hate . BUT i went to the website and signed up. hey, if it will help me keep my house "company ready", i will try. i am so overwhelmed all the time- just like you! she also said we are not to compare ourselves to other women. the grass is not greener.
today, there is a scrapbook meeting that i always go to, but i am gonna skip and go to the gym and then put on some tunes and clean my behind off.

You are so cute. Your dh adores you, your friends admire you and your children are wonderful (because of you). Don't think you need it but, I guess it's always nice to work on yourself. :)

You go girl! I admire your ideals.

I tried Flylady once, and it helped me, but I didn't like the way she did the emails. She did help me learn to have routines so straightening up became more automatic, and I'm not as much of a procrastinator anymore. I used to be horrible, and now I feel just like a normal procrastinator. I quit her emails, but the lessons stuck.

Ahh, I wish we were closer. We could SO be friends!!

I actually just subscribed to Flylady two weeks ago!! It's a good thing. Her e-mails get annoying, but it does help.

I wish I had time to scrapbook anymore! :)

My grandfather used to say "a job worth doing is a job worth doing right." Generally, I think this saying has a point, but on the other hand, you can't learn to do a job without trying, and you can't expect to do a job perfectly the first time. As the job market evolves, companies are realizing that creativity is a valuable resource, but that we are too often demotivated by fear because we think we might make mistakes. I say the mistakes are worth the long-term profit from creativity! You know how many opportunities you'd miss out on if you always knew exactly what you were doing? Curiosity might have killed the cat, but it saves humans from boring lives! So, keep it up. Keep it all up. As long as you aren't shooting for "best" anything right away, you can always go in that direction.

I don't think my house would ever be "company ready". But you know what? Kids are only young once so why not try to enjoy them more and stress about the house less?

Hi,
I just discovered your blog doing a FlyLady search. I just signed up for her emails a few weeks ago and am trying to learn to FLY. Kinda hard with five kids. I enjoy seeing how other moms try out her systems. I blog about FlyLady on Fridays -- the day I'm forced to deal with clutter to get ready for the weekend!
